About us
WHAT WE DO
Banbury Animal Rescue and Kindness Service is a small, local, self-funding, volunteer run local charity dedicated to the rescue, care and re-homing of cats, kittens, rabbits, guinea pigs and most small rodents.
We have been operating since 1986 and became a Registered Charity in 1997.
A monthly meeting is held of our small committee of core volunteers to organise fundraising events and to discuss and
decide upon all relevant issues concerning the running of the charity. Please get in touch if you’d like to join our friendly
and informal committee.
We re-home in Banbury and the local surrounding area. We take in stray and unwanted cats,
kittens, rabbits and guinea pigs and find them good, caring, approved homes.
NEW FOSTERERS NEEDED
Our animals are cared for by two committed fosterers who look after them in their homes and in purpose built accommodation in their gardens until good new homes are found for them. If we have more fosterer's we can
care for
even more needy cats. Do you have a spare room in your home where you could care for one or two
cats until we
find approved new homes for them? If so please contact us for more details
It costs approximately £45,000 per year to run the charity, all of which we have to raise ourselves, as we receive
NO government grants or funding. Our funds are raised through adoption fees, donations and lots of fundraising
by dedicated volunteers!
We hold regular jumble sales, car boot sales, bingo evenings and street or store collections. Check the local press
for details of these events then please come along and support us! If you’d like to help at any event please give
us a ring.
Your support would be most appreciated.
We are a registered charity on the ebay website so you can sell your items online and give a donation to B.A.R.K.S.
at the same time!
We are also registered on the charity search engine http://barks.easysearch.org.uk and the charity web shop www.easyfundraising.org.uk/barks which donate money to us each time you use the sites but at no cost to you!
If you are a UK tax payer you can Gift Aid all your donations to B.A.R.K.S. This means we can claim back 25p
in the £1.00 from the taxman!
We never have a healthy cat Euthanased
A home visit is carried out by a trained B.A.R.K.S. volunteer before a prospective adopter visits our foster homes
to choose a cat or kitten.
Our catchment area for cats and kittens includes Banbury and the local surrounding area
within a radius of approximately 20 miles.
The areas we cover are dependant on the location of our volunteer home visitors, and the distance they are able to
travel to conduct the home visit.
We currently have home visitors in Banbury, Daventry and Bicester who manage to cover the areas local to them.
We may consider conducting home visits out of our local area if a contribution towards the cost is made.
We will
home a single kitten to a home where the adopters work part time, but this is at our discretion. We do not home
kittens to where there are children of three years old or under.
Cat and kitten adoption fees:
£40 for a kitten
£45 for a cat
£15 non refundable deposit is required if you wish
to reserve a cat or kitten.
If you would like more information, or you meet the above criteria and you are interested in adopting a cat or
kitten please telephone 07787 406915
RABBITS, GUINEA PIGS and OTHER SMALL ANIMALS
We have a good selection of rabbits and guinea pigs looking for caring new homes.
We re-home our rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals nationwide as we are unable to carry out home visits
but do our best to ensure that they are adopted by good, caring, knowledgeable homes.
All rabbits are vaccinated
against myxomatosis. All adult rabbits and adult male guinea pigs are neutered so they can be paired with females
without the risk of breeding.
We usually have several small rodents looking for good new homes including hamsters, rats, gerbils, chinchillas
and ferrets. If you are looking for a small rodent as a pet please think of us and give us a call.
