Brandy is an elderly lady who came to us as grossly obese, unhappy and bad-tempered. After a lengthy stay in our pens she was put into rest-of-life foster, and has blossomed into a happy cat. Brandy forms part of our management team and makes many decisions for us!! A few words from Katie, Brandy's soulmate and foster mum: Brandy came to me from the BARKS pens in Bodicote in 2018 when she was 14 years old. Brandy came to BARKS as an abandoned cat and was passed by everyone who went to view the cats because she was grumpy and often lashed out at people. When I saw the advert about Brandy it said ‘big girl Brandy loves fuss with caution’. When I took her in I let her know with love what is expected of her and reassured her every day and still do that I would never give up on her whatever behaviour she displayed. Fast forward to November 30th 2021 she is now 17 years old and my goodness, what a transformation from the aggressive overweight girl who would hit out bite and scratch and hiss to a loving cat who loves affection and is very affectionate back and is a very good furry nurse too. Of late since we’ve taken on fostering four guinea pigs, Brandy has blossomed even more and almost always comes out when visitors arrive to say hi and to give love and affection and to give it back. Brandy’s even letting Ann Collins pick her up for hugs. And she more often than not comes into the living room to check on our 4 foster boys to make sure they are behaving themselves and to make sure they are happy she will even talk to them and say night to them when we go to bed at night. Brandy is also still working very hard on her weight loss and keeping her mummy on track too!
