WHAT KIND OF PERSONAL INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
In the course of our relationship with members there is a need to collect preferred contact details: we collect on members is used for mutually beneficial purposes: email addresses and/or physical addresses.
In the course of rehoming animals it is necessary to take contact details of adopting households, to make home visits and/or follow-up visits.
In the course of working with volunteers we collect next of kin details, preferred contact details, medical details in cases of accident.
WHY DO WE COLLECT AND USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
The reason we ask you for personal details is to enable us to keep you informed about the activities which you support with membership or donations.
The reason we ask volunteers for personal detail is to enable us to react correctly in the case of an emergency.
The reason we take details from adopting households is so that we can carry out our duty of care to the animals.
HOW DO WE SHARE YOUR DETAILS WITH THIRD PARTIES?
We do not share your details with third parties with the exception of HMRC in relation to Gift Aid, and our auditing accountants for the same reason
HOW DO WE MAKE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA?
BARKS use social media to advertise and promote animals that are available for adoption; to advertise fundraising appeals; to run online auctions; to attract volunteers and general interest and support for our work.
WHAT SECURITY PROCEDURES DO WE OPERATE TO SAFEGUARD DATA?
As a small charity we do not run with shared files, therefore access to personal data is restricted to the two Officers of the charity, who store information on private premises.
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SAFEGUARDING AND PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA HELD BY BARKS?
The Officers of BARKS, acting on behalf of the Trustees, control the processing of all personal data.
HOW DO WE ERASE PERSONAL DATA?
Personal data is kept on spreadsheets. Data will be deleted from these spreadsheets when required and old versions will be over-written.
HOW CAN YOU CONTROL THE PERSONAL DATA WE HOLD ON YOU?
You have the right to review the personal data we keep about you, and at any time you may request a copy of the details.
